WWU's Wallace Nominated for Thurston County Sports Commission Award

Outgoing Western Washington University basketball player Brad Wallace has been nominated for a top honor in his hometown area. The Lacey native is up for the Sports Star of the Year at the first annual Thurston County Sports Commission Sports Awards presented by Experience Olympia and Beyond.
Wallace played in all 29 games for the Vikings during his senior season, helping WWU to a 21-8 record and a second-place finish in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. He averaged 3.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game. The former River Ridge High School star ranked 3rd in the GNAC in assist/turnover ratio.
Two other GNAC student-athletes have been nominated for the men's sports star award. Luke Chavez of Saint Martin's University Basketball and Brandon Madsen of Saint Martin's University Soccer join Wallace in the total group of 8 up for the award.

The awards ceremony is Tuesday, June 19th from 6-9pm at the Indian Summer Golf & Country Club in Olympia. A total of 7 awards will be presented on the night, including Sports Moment of the Year and Thurston County Sports Legend.
