WWU Jeremiah Lee Named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week
September 18, 2018
BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University junior Jeremiah Lee has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 10-16, announced Monday by the conference office in Portland, Oregon.
Lee (Marysville, WA/Grace Academy) played all 180 minutes in WWU’s 1-1 week, playing lockdown defense as the Vikings allowed only one goal in the two games.
Lee also netted the game-winning goal on a header from a corner kick in the 85th minute of WWU’s 1-0 win over Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday.
This is the first GNAC Player of the Week for Lee in his three-year career, and the first by a Viking this season. WWU had two players win GNAC weekly awards last season, Drew Farnsworth (Offense, Sept. 18-24) and Tyler Visten (Defense, Oct. 2-8).
The Vikings (4-2-0, 0-0-0 GNAC) open the GNAC schedule this week, traveling to play Saint Martin’s on Thursday in Lacey (1 pm) and hosting Montana State Billings on Saturday at Harrington Field (7 pm).
