Stoner & Kay Lead Bells to Shutout Win

Left fielder Jordan Stoner broke out the bat and Theron Kay controlled the mound to help lead the Bellingham Bells to a series opening victory Saturday at Joe Martin Field. The Bells shutout the Bend Elks 8-0 in game one of the 3-game set.
Stoner went 4-for-5 with a double, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI and a stolen base. Kay (3-0; .030 ERA) pitched 6 innings giving up just 1 hit and striking out 4 batters.
The Bells banged out 10 hits in the win. Zach Needham went deep for his 5th home run of the season
Bellingham (25-14 overall) improves to 7-and-6 in the second half of the WCL season. Bend (11-32 overall) drops to 4-and-12.
The two teams square off again today. Nick Nastrini gets the call for Bellingham versus AJ Atherton for Bend. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05pm.
