Nick Nastrini Pitches Bells Past Pippins

Nick Nastrini's dominant performance on the mound helped the Bellingham Bells to a shutout road victory over Yakima Valley Friday. The Bells blanked the Pippins 4-0 in their return to West Coast League action.
Nastrini (3-0; 0.52 ERA) pitched six shutout innings. The right-hander out of UCLA gave up just four hits, striking out 3 batters while walking just two.
Michael Petrie supplied the bulk of the offense for the Bells. The University of Washington catcher put Bellingham on the board in the top of the 2nd with a 2RBI double. Shortstop Ernie Yake contributed 2 hits to up his batting average to .338.
Including non-league games, Bellingham (16-6) has won 5 in a row. They sit 3 games in front of second-place Kelowna in the North Division. At 10-12, Yakima Valley is 6 games behind the Bells.
Game 2 of the 3-game series is tonight at Yakima County Stadium. Grant Holman toes the rubber for Bellingham versus Connor White for the Pippins. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
