Lynden Star Clayton Whitman Commits to Seattle Pacific University
October 29, 2018
Lynden Lions hoop star Clayton Whitman is becoming a Falcon. The senior forward has announced he has committed to play basketball at Seattle Pacific University.
Whitman told The Doug Lange Network that he informed the SPU coaches on Friday. He made the decision public Monday on social media via Twitter:
The first team All-State selection chose Seattle Pacific over Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.
It was a really tough decision, it was really close," said Whitman . "It came down mostly to just fit and kind of just what felt right. So that's what I went with in Seattle Pacific."

Whitman is coming off an unbelievable junior campaign. After missing much of the regular season with an injury suffered in the season opening jamboree, Whitman returned to help the Lions win the 2A State Championship. He was named tournament MVP following Lynden's 57-53 title win win over W.F. West.
It sounds like Whitman is happy to have announced his commitment as the Lynden basketball squad gets ready to defend their championship.
"I knew that it would feel way better to get that off of my shoulders and then make a decision before the season so I can one hundred percent put myself with the team," said Whitman.
Lynden will open the season November 24th at the Lynden Christian Jamboree. Their first game is scheduled for November 30th at Marysville-Pilchuck.
