May 1, 2018
A late season run will continue for Sedro-Woolley thanks to the pitching exploits of Cody Buchanan. The junior pitched the Cubs to an 11-to-1 upset victory over Blaine Tuesday at Pipeline Field in a loser out district playoff game.
Buchanan went seven innings to pick up the complete game victory allowing just 4 hits and striking out 5 as Sedro-Woolley won their 4th straight game. The Cubs (9-12) move on to play Burlington Saturday at 3:00pm at Volunteer Park in Anacortes as the tournament moves on to the double elimination phase.
Sedro-Woolley led 2-to-1 late when they put the game away scoring 2 runs in the 6th and 7 runs in the 7th. Michael Hall was the hitting star for the Cubs going 2-for 4 with a triple, five RBI's and a run scored.
Blaine's only run came in the 3rd inning on a RBI double off the bat of Michael Elliot in the game broadcast on The Doug Lange Network.
"That's what happens when a team gets hot towards the end of the year, they had it and we didn't right there, we started to cool down a little bit, said first-year Blaine head coach Tanner Olson. "Give that guy that was on the bump a lot of credit, he did a really good job of keeping us off balance and keeping the ball in the zone."

Sehome 8 Lakewood 0
Evan Kingma and Jacob Kaepernick combined to throw a no-hitter as Sehome beat Lakewood 8-0 at Joe Martin Field Tuesday. A seven- run 5th inning helped ice the game for the Mariners who advance to double elimination play in the 2A district tournament.
"Some of these kids, we're pretty young, so this is the first experience for the district tournament so you could see a little nerves there," said Sehome head coach Monte Walton. "Once we scored one run in the third it kind of got our nervousness out of us and then in the 5th we had a big 7-run inning and kind of closed it out from there."
