District Playoffs: 5 local squads hit the diamond today

Whatcom County prep baseball fans will turn their attention to Bellingham and Anacortes Saturday. 1A district tournament play begins at Joe Martin Field and Sehome High School while the 2A tourney is at Volunteer Park and Daniels Field in Anacortes.
In the 1A ranks the Nooksack Valley Pioneers will open play at 10am at Joe Martin Field versus Cedar Park Christian. Also at 10am, the Lynden Christian Lyncs open their tournament run at Sehome High School versus Overtake/Bear Creek. Meridian plays King's at noon at Joe Martin Field. In 2A play the Lynden Lions square off against Mountlake Terrace at Volunteer Park with a 12:00pm scheduled first pitch. Sehome also plays at noon. The Mariners battle Archbishop Murphy at Daniels Field.

All 5 local teams are in the double elimination portion of their tournaments. The 1A squads will play two games Saturday while it's just 1 game for the 2A.
