Sehome Boys Win 7th Straight Cross Country
State Title

November 4, 2018 

The Sehome High School boys cross country team continued their domination winning their 7th straight 2A State Championship. With 3 runners finishing in the top 20, the Mariners posted a team score of 84, topping second place Washougal (98) at the Sun Willows Golf Course Saturday in Pasco. 

It's the 9th over state crown in cross country for Sehome. The Mariners have finished either first or second every year since 2006. 

Senior Reed Smith led the way for Sehome finishing seventh overall with a time of 16:10.80. Junior Jacob Alexander post a time of 16:28.00 and senior posted a mark of 16:36.30. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lynden's Isiah Ellis was the highest placing local runner in the boys 2A. The senior came in 5th with a finishing time of 16:09.50. 

In the 1A, the Meridian boys came in 4th with a team score of 140. Senior Nathan Schneider was the top individual finisher for the Trojans, coming in 2nd with a finish time of 16:27.90. 

On the girls side, Bellingham came in second to West Valley of Spokane for the 2A crown. The two squads tied with a team score of 118, but the eagles edged the Red Raiders based on the sixth-runner tiebreaker.

Bellingham's Annika Reiss turned in the best individual local performance. The senior came in second in the 2A at 18:29.40. 

Sehome finished 7th with a team score of 178. Sophomore Isabelle Douglas turned in the best showing for the Mariners, placing 27th with a time of 20:18.40. 

The Meridian girls fished 10th in the 1A with a team score of 225.  Kayla  Aalpoel finished 5th with a time of 19:17:30. 

The top local finisher in the 3A ranks was Squalicum freshman Laura Halsall with a mark of 19:52.00.
