Bellingham's Annika Reiss Wins 1600M Championship

Bellingham High School has a state champion in track and field on day one of 2A State. Senior Annika Reiss won the girls 1600 meter race at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma with a mark of 4:57.56.
Entering as the only girl to break the 5-minute mark at the 2A level this year, Reiss reamined undefeated in 1,600. The Northern Arizona University commit bested Saville Feist of Anacortes, who finished second with a time of 5:02.67.
This is the second state title in the 1600 for Reiss, who also won as a sophomore.
Reiss also joined Mazy Wright, Grace Much and Carmen Souza to help Bellingham qualify 7th in the preliminaries of the girls 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:08.29. Lynden posted the fastest time in the event as Sara Jones,
Mercy Berkmeyer, Savonne Sterk and Amanda Mata clocked out at 4:00.06. Both squads will compete in the finals on Saturday.
