Sehome Student-Athletes Honored by WIAA

Student athletes from Sehome High School have been honored by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association for their prowess in the classroom. Sehome boys soccer and boys track and field each claimed Spring Team Academic State Championships.
The awards go out quarterly for the teams with the highest grade point average. The Mariners took the top spot in boys soccer with a 3.577 GPA and in boys track and field with a mark of 3.538.

Burlington was the only other Northwest Conference team honored this spring. The Tigers claimed the championships in both boys and girls golf.
In related news, Sehome is closing in on a 5th straight WIAA Scholastic Cup. The Mariners leads Sammamish by 20 points and Pullman by 30 points for the award that factors in performance in the classroom as well as on the playing surface along with sportsmanship.
In the 1A ranks, Lynden Christian is chasing after their second straight Scholastic Cup crown. The Lyncs lead second place Freeman by 15 points.
