Defender Theo Steinmetz to Join WWU Men's Soccer

April 12, 2019

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men’s soccer head coach Greg Brisbon has announced that defender Theo Steinmetz out of Shorewood High School is the latest addition to the Vikings 2019 recruiting class.

Steinmetz, a 6-0 left back, will be a freshman for the Vikings in the fall when he joins the program. He is the fifth piece of the WWU men’s soccer recruiting class that will debut at Harrington Field in 2019. He joins Sumner High School defender Mitchell Hutter, Whatcom Community College defender Camron Miller, goalkeeper Brandon Locke out of Todd Beamer High School and forward Alex Whiting out of Curtis High School and Tacoma Community College.

During his prep career at Shorewood, Steinmetz has been an all-WESCO 3A South selection and named the MVP of his high school team.

He is a product of the Crossfire Premier club program and was a member of the ODP (Olympic Development Program) Region IV team.

“I am excited to join the program and grateful to be given the opportunity to play soccer at a high level while simultaneously get a great education at WWU,” said Steinmetz.

The Vikings are scheduled to open the 2019 season Sept. 5 hosting Chico State in a home game at Harrington Field on the WWU campus. The complete spring and fall schedule can be viewed online at WWUVikings.com/MSOC.
