Prep Baseball: Meridian Falls at Brewster
April 5, 2019
The Meridian baseball squad ran into an inhospitable host not heir first stop during a spring break road trip. The Trojans lost 5-to-1 to last years 2B state runner-up Brewster on Thursday.
The Bears got on the board in the first inning with an RBI single from Mason Kelly. 2 doubles and a single, from Kade Kelpman, AJ Woodward and Joe Taylor respectively, in the 2nd inning would add three more runs. That would be more than enough to keep Brewster from tasting defeat for the first time this year.
Meridian struggled offensively registering just 3 hits and scoring their only run in the 3rd inning. The Trojans, the only Northwest Conference team in action during remainder of spring break after Tuesday's games, lost their 3rd straight contest.
Quincy Vassar got the victory on the mound for the Bears after giving up just 2 hits and striking out 6 batters. The Bears remained undefeated on the year improving to 7-0.
Meridian (4-6/1-4 NWC) will look to bounce back as their road trip continues Friday with a game versus Cascade of Leavenworth. First pitch at the Peshastin-Dryden Sports Complex is scheduled for 11:00am.
