Bells Lose Season Opener to Kelowna in Extra Innings

The Kelowna Falcons ruined the West Coast League season opener for the Bellingham Bells in extra innings Tuesday night. The Flacons scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th to down Bellingham 4-2 in front of 2,864 fans at Joe Martin Field.
Kelowna turned one hit into a big 10th inning. The Bells gave up a triple, two walks and two wild pitches that scored Tyler Grissom & James Shimashita.
Connor Hurley worked 3.1 innings to pick up the victory. Matt Voelzke closed things out with scoreless 10th to get the save. Eric Anderson took the loss for Bellingham in relief.
Outfielder Guthrie Morrison registered 3 of the Bells 6 total hits on the night. Sam Swenson and Jack Machtolf each had an RBI in the loss.
Grissom led the way for the Falcons at the plate. The second baseman went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Outfielder Trent Tinglestad went 1-for-3 with a home run, 2 base on balls, 2 RBI's and a run scored.
The two teams will play the middle game of their 3-game series Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm with Blake Tritch (Kelowna) and Brock Wrolstad (Bellingham) are listed as the probable pitchers.
