Prep Football Week 5: Tough Tests for
Undefeated Lions & Lyncs
September 28, 2018
The Lynden and Lynden Christian football squads will look to stay undefeated as they head into tough match-ups in Week 5 of the prep football season. The two highest ranked local squads will play league games versus teams trying to bounce back after suffering their first losses of the year.
Our game of the week features Lynden at Lakewood. Coverage on The Doug Lange Network begins at 6:45pm. Listen online here.
The 3rd ranked Lions (4-0) picked up a huge 24-21 home win over then 5th ranked Archbishop Murphy last week. The Cougars (3-1) are coming off a 36-14 loss to Sedro-Woolley, in a game that saw them held to under 200 yards of total offense.
"We want to read and react," said Lynden coach Blake Van Dalen. "So this week is a big week to get our kids to a place where they're comfortable flying around out there, because that is when we're usually the most successful."
No. 4 Lynden Christian (4-0) will look to ride the momentum of last week's 28-20 come from behind victory over Mount Baker. It won't be a easy as the Lyncs play host to Nooksack Valley (3-1). The Pioneers are looking to shake off a 21-14 loss to Meridian in Week 4.
LC head man Dan Kaemingk is looking for four quarters of improved offense versus the Pioneers. "We're really focusing on having a good start and really putting together that complete game that we've been looking for and that we know our kids have in them."
Nooksack Valley head coach Robb Myhre is impressed by the size of Lynden Christian. "I think their front five guys offensively and defensively are just tough, tough kids and there's a reason why they've given up so few points this year."
