Rob Adams Named NWC Coach of the Year

March 4th, 2019 

Lynden's Rob Adams has been named the Northwest Conference girls basketball Coach of the Year. The honor was announced Monday along with the All-NWC teams. 

Adams led the Lions to a 23-and-4 record and a fourth place finish at 2A state in Yakima this past weekend. The No. 1 seeded Lions capped off their season with a 57-39 victory over Black Hills in the SunDome on Saturday. 

 

 

 

 

Anacortes senior Gabby Ronngren was named the conference MVP. The 6-foot guard averaged 21.3 points per game (per goskagit.com) in leading the Seahawks to a 17-and-9 record and a trip to 2A state. 

Hali Rainaud Hinds out of Burlington is only other player out of Skagit County on the The All-NWC first team. Whatcom County placed 6 players on the first team. Lynden juniors Keylie Hershey and Ruby VanderHaak join Meridian junior Jolee Sipma along with seniors Isabela Hernandez and Grace Sterk from Lynden Christian and Danielle Tyler out of Mount Baker.  

Six more local players earned All-NWC second team honors: Brianna Byrnes and Kim Weden (Ferndale), Riley Dyktra (Lynden Christian), Jenna Tenkley (Nooksack Valley), Lindsey Moore (Meridian), Aspen Garrison (Sehome) and Liv Tjoelker (Lynden). Katie King of Burlington also was named to the second team.
