Colby Knutzen threw a 5-inning no-hitter to lead the Borderites past the Golden Eagles 10-0 at Pipline Fields. The senior gave up struck out 5 batters and gave up just two walks in a near-perfect outing.
Knutzen also helped his own cause with the bat, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Nick Gunderson was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, 3 RBI's and 1 run scored.
Blaine (5-3/2-1 NWC) returns to action Monday with a game versus Bellingham at Joe Martin Field. Ferndale (5-3/2-1 NWC) hosts Lakewood on Saturday.
Sehome 1 Lynden 0
The Mariners let one early run stand up in a 1-0 victory over the Lions in a pitchers duel at home on Thursday. Sophomore Tim Malo stole home in the bottom of the second for the lone run of the game.
Sehome (5-5/2-1 NWC) is at Ferndale on Monday. Lynden (5-2/2-1 NWC) hosts Port Angeles on Saturday.
Squalicum 8 Bellingham 0
The Storm picked up their first Northwest Conference victory of the year behind a dominant pitching performance by senior Mitchell Sage. The junior threw a 2-hit shutout with 9 strikeouts in an 8-0 win over Bellingham at Joe Martin Field.
Squalicum was hot early scoring all 8 runs within ht first 4 innings. Senior August Williams led the way going 2-for-3 with a base on balls, 2 RBI's and 1 run scored.
The Storm (3-7/1-2 NWC) host Lakewood at Joe Martin Field on Monday. Bellingham (1-8/0-3 NWC) is back in action on Monday playing Blaine in the late game at Joe Martin.
Burlington 4 Lynden Christian 0
The Tigers silenced the Lynden Christian bats behind the pitching of Isaiah Shetler. The senior gave struck out 11 Lyncs batters while giving up just 2 hits in 6 innings of work in a 4-0 victory in Lynden.
Burlington was held to just 3 hits by Luke Johnson and Jake Terpstra, but were able to push all 4 runs across in the 3rd inning. Isaac Lindsay tallied 2 RBI's on a one out single in the inning to do the bulk of the damage.
Lynden Christian (4-6/1-2 NWC) visits Anacortes on Monday.
Lakewood 5 Nooksack Valley 2
The Cougars remained perfect on the year in NWC play with a 5-2 win over Nooksack Valley at home. Caden Wolfson's 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 5th broke up a 2-2 tie that eventually sent Lakewood on to the win.
Nooksack Valley lost for the 6th straight time. Easton Zylstra had a 2-hit performance in the loss, while Levi Deweber accounted for the 2 RBI's for the Pioneers.
Nooksack Valley (2-8/0-3 NWC) is on the road Monday for a game versus Sedro-Woolley.
Sedro Woolley 13 Meridian 5
The Cubs remained in a first-place tie with Lakewood by downing Meridian 13-to-5 on the road. It was the 4th straight victory for Sedro-Woolley (8-1/3-0 NWC).
Meridian (3-3/1-2) returns to the diamond Saturday when they play host to Friday Harbor.
Anacortes 5 Mount Baker 1
The Seahawks picked up their third win in their last four outings with a 5-1 road victory over the Mountaineers. The win moved Anacortes (4-5/2-1 NWC) into a 6-way log jam for 3rd place in the NWC.
Mount Baker (3-7/0-3 NWC) will continue their pursuit of a first conference victory with a road game at Lynden on Monday.
