Hommes Leads Point Loma into Elite Eight

Lynden's Daulton Hommes turned in a dominant performance to pace Point Loma Nazarene to a West Regional championship Monday night. The Sea Lions topped Saint Martin's 60-54 at home in San Diego to punch their ticket to the NCAA Division 2 Elite Eight.
Hommes, the former Lynden Christian Lync and Western Washington University Viking, poured in a game-high 25 points in the victory. The junior went 10-of-15 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from three-point land.
Former Lynden High School star Sterling Somers scored 4 points, including two late free-throws, and grabbed 8 rebounds in Monday's win.
After averaging 24.3 points, 7 rebounds and hitting 12-of-20 shots from beyond the arc, Hommes was named Most Outstanding Player of the West Regional. He was named the Division II Conference Commissioners Association West Region Player of the Year on Friday, March 15th.
Point Loma Nazarene (29-4) moves on to the Elite Eight quarterfinals in Evansville, Indiana March 27th.
