Senior Classic Rosters Released

The 2019 Senior Classic will feature state champs, state tournament stars and conference MVP's. The final opportunity to see the best Whatcom County seniors on the basketball court is Friday night at Jake Maberry Gymnasium in Lynden. The rosters for the event were released this week.
Seven members of the 2A boys state champion Lynden Lions will be on the hardwood again, including 2A state MVP Clayton Whitman and 2nd team all-stater Christian Zamora. The two-time Northwest Conference MVP Cole Bajema joins three other Lynden Christian Lyncs on the roster.
Lynden Christian, Meridian and Ferndale have the most representation on the girls rosters. After leading the Lyncs to a second place finish at 1A state, Isabela Hernandez, Grace Sterk and Josie Bocci will play. As will Meridian's Lindsey Moore, Makenna Holtz, and Alexis Groen after the Trojans made their third straight trip to state. Ferndale will be represented by Rylee Weg, Nicole Guessford and Kim Weden.
The boys coaches are Jerry Blankers and Dick Stark. Helen Newcomb and Ken McLendon will coach the girls squads.
The girls game will begin at 6:15 with a 3-point contest game following. Action on the boys side is scheduled to start at 8:00pm, starting with a 3-point shootout and dunk contest followed by the game.
