4 Local Volleyball Teams Begin Chase for a
State Title

Lynden, Blaine, Lynden Christian and Nooksack Valley all begin their run at a volleyball state championship Friday. 2A tournament play is at Saint Martin's University in Lacey. The 1A's are battling it out in the Yakima SunDome.
2A
The Borderites (10-7) are in action bright and early Friday with a 9am match against White River. A win sends them off to the quarterfinals against the kingston/Columbia River winner at 5:00pm. A loss sends them to the consolation bracket for a 3:00pm match.
The Lions (15-2) open up play against Steilacoom at 1:00pm. Prosper and Fife are on the other side of Lynden's bracket with the winners of both matches meeting at 7:00pm in the quarterfinals, while the losers face off at 5:00pm
1A
Lynden Christian plays their first match at 3:15pm against Chelan. Win or lose the Lyncs (15-3)) will play either Kiona Benton or Castle Rock at 6:45pm in a quarterfinal or a loser out match.
Nooksack Valley (11-9) opens up against Freeman at 5:45pm. A second round match-up with Charles Wright or Naches Valley will follow at 8:15pm.
3A
The 3A state tournament is next week. Ferndale (17-0) cliched a state berth with a 3-0 sweep of Stanwood Thursday in the district playoffs. The Golden Eagles will play Snohomish Saturday at 1:00pm ast Marysville PilChuck high School for the district championship.
