WCC Hoops: Men Win at the Wire; Women Roll to Victory

The Whatcom Community College basketball teams won in very different fashion Saturday night in doubleheader action at the Whatcom Pavilion. It was a squeaker for the men and no contest for the women.
Donovan Sellgren's made free throw with 5 seconds remaining was the difference in a 83-82 WCC men's victory over Shoreline. The win improves the Orcas record to 9-and-9 overall and 3-and-3 in the Northwest Athletic Conference.
Shoreline guard Anjaylo Lloyd missed a game winning 3-ball attempt at the buzzer. the Dolphins slip to 6-and-13 overall and 2-and-4 in conference play.
WCC center Dominick Oliveri posted a double-double with game highs of 25 points and 18 rebounds. Tevin Bayne added 18 points and Trazil Lane tallied 10 for the Orcas.
On the women's side, six players scored in double figures to lead WCC to a lop-sidded 115-65 win over Shoreline. The Orcas score the first 14 points of the game and never trailed.
Allison Hardaway led Whatcom with 23 points, hitting five 3-pointers on the night. Elisa Kooiman added 20 point and Gabrielle Edison registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win the Whatcom women improve to 10-and-8 overall and 2-and-4 in the NWAC. Shoreline falls to 2-14 and 0-6 after losing their 7th straight game.
Both teams are in action again Wednesday playing host to Edmonds with games scheduled for 5pm (women) and 7pm (men).
