Mount Baker Boys Basketball Coach on Administrative Leave
January 4, 2019
Mount Baker boys basketball head coach Shelby Greenlaw has been placed on paid administrative leave. C team coach Andy Hart has been named the interim head coach of the varsity squad.
The move was confirmed by Mount Baker Athletic Director Ron Lepper in a phone interview on Thursday.
"It is public knowledge that she is on administrative leave. Andy is the interim head coach and there is no timetable set for her return," said Lepper.
When reached for comment, Mount Baker School district superintendant
Mary Sewright released the following statement to TDLN on Friday:
"Shelby Greenlaw was placed on paid administrative leave because the District received allegations that require investigation. An independent investigator
will conduct the investigation, and the District will take any appropriate
employment action, if any, upon the conclusion of that investigation. Pending
the outcome of the investigation, Andy Hart will serve as the interim head
coach.
The District respectfully declines to comment further in the interest of fairness to all of the parties involved."
Greenlaw was hired at the end of the last school year in June of 2018. The former Whatcom Community College women's basketball assistant coach has led the Mountaineers for just 11 games. Mount Baker is currently 4-and-7 overall with an 0-and-4 record in Northwest Conference play.
Greenlaw had no comment when reached by phone on Friday.
Mount Baker is next in action tonight when they play host to Lakewood.
