Changed 2018-19 Prep Basketball RPI Goes Public
December 15, 2018
The 2018-19 boys and girls basketball RPI has gone public. The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association released links to the live rating percentage index Friday.
With continuous updates throughout the prep season, the rankings will be used to seed the teams that qualify for the Regional round of the Hardwood Classic by way of their district tournaments.
Changes have been made to the RPI this year. That follows recommendations from the RPI committee and approval by the WIAA Executive Board in June.
The formula for calculating the RPI is now 40% Win Percentage +
40% Opponents Win Percentage + 20% Opponents' Opponents' Win Percentage. Adjustments will also be made for teams No. 9-through-16 to prevent squads from the same leagues playing each other in the first round in loser-out games (Adjustment Criteria).

Teams can input scores into MaxPreps until 2AM February 17th. At that point the RPI will be frozen and the rankings become final.
