WWU Men Host CWU Looking to Stop Skid
February 7, 2019
The Western Washington University men’s basketball team is looking to snap a three-game losing streak when they hit the hardwood tonight. The Vikings (11-11, 5-7) will have to beat arch rival Central Washington University (9-11, 3-9) at home to get it done.
WWU suffered a pair of tough road losses last week, falling in the last seconds at No. 12 Saint Martin’s 57-53 and 91-75 at Seattle Pacific. Freshman Jalen Green scored in double-digits in both games averaging 12.5 points per contest. Trevor Jasinsky erupted for 28 points at Seattle Pacific. Luke Lovelady recorded a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double at Saint Martin’s, but was limited to 9 minutes in the loss at SPU due to a first-half injury.
WWU defeated Central 73-65 on Jan. 12th in Ellensburg. The two teams split last season with each team winning at home. The Vikings are 17-5 over the last 22 games vs. the Wildcats dating back to the 2009-10 season.
Western is in 7th place in the GNAC standings with a 5-7 conference record just a game behind 6th place Montana State Billings. CWU has lost 4 straight and with a 3-and-9 conference mark the Wildcats are in 8th place.
Tonight's game gets underway at 7:00pm on WECU Court at Carver Gymnasium.
