AP Football Poll: Mt. Baker Moves Up
October 17, 2018
Three Whatcom County teams are represented and two more are just outside the Top-10 rankings of the Associated Press prep football poll. The week 8 poll was released Wednesday.
After beating Lynden Christian 20-13 last Friday, Mount Baker (5-2) made the biggest jump moving from No. 8 to No. 6. in the 1A classification. With the loss, the Lyncs fell out of the top-10 from No. 6 a week ago. They are listed in the "receiving votes" category of the 1A poll.
Lynden Christian plays Nooksack Valley this Friday. The Mountaineers play host to Meridian in a game you can hear on The Doug Lange Network.
The Trojans (5-2) jumped back into the top-10 at No. 10 following their 40-27 win over the Pioneers on October 12th.
Lynden (7-0) remains the highest ranked Whatcom County team after beating Sedro-Woolley 55-21 last week. The Lions are now alone as the No. 4 team in the 2A ranks after being in a tie with Liberty at No. 4 in week 7. Lynden plays host to Vancouver College on Friday.
Squalicum is knocking on the door of the top-10. The Storm are the lone team in the "receiving votes" category of the 3A ranks. Squalicum beat Stanwood 42-10 last week and will play at No. 7 Oak Harbor Friday to decide the Wesco 3A North championship.
The only other ranked team out of the Northwest Conference is Archbishop Murphy. The Wildcats (3-2) remain at No. 9 in the 2A after beating Burlington 27-13 last week.
