Blaine's Jay Dodd on WIAA Football Seeding Committee

Blaine High School football coach Jay Dodd has been named to the Washington Interscholastic Football Seeding Committee. The WIAA released the list of members for the 2018 season on Wednesday.
The 3 committees (1B /2B, 1A/2A & 3A/4A) made up of coaches, former coaches, school administrators and media members will be tasked with seeding the 16-teams in each WIAA Classification (eight-team for the 1B classification) for the State Football Championships.
According to a release from the WIAA, teams will still qualify for the playoffs through the WIAA District allocation system and the committee will have no bearing upon which teams qualify for the State tournament. Once the field is determined, the seeding committee will rank and place teams in the first round of the bracket based on their performance throughout the regular season and playoffs. This system will replace the draw system which has been used in previous seasons.
Dodd will serve on the 1A/2A seeding committee. Lakewood head coach Dan Teeter is on the same committee and the only other member of the Northwest Conference. Former Ferndale High School football coach and current Mountain View AD and football coach Adam Matheison is on the 3A/4A committee.
The committee is scheduled to meet August 12th, and at the conclusion of Week 10 to assign seeding position.
