Bellingham Bells Split Doubleheader Versus Kelowna

After splitting a doubleheader with Kelowna Saturday, the Bellingham Bells will look to split their final series of the regular season today at Joe Martin Field. A Bells victory will split the season series with the Falcons as well.
Kelowna topped the Bells 5-1 in the first game Saturday. Bellingham bounced back for a 10-4 victory in the nightcap. Both games were shortened 7-inning affairs.
In game number one, the Falcons used a 3-run fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Garrett Kelly had a solo-shot home run and 2RBI's. Pitcher Jared Akin (4-4; 5.32 ERA) went the full 7 innings giving up just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 2 batters.
Nick Nastrini (4-2; 1.88 ERA) took the loss for Bellingham.
In game 2 Bellingham put up 8 runs through the first 4 innings and didn't look back. Matt James led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's. Matt McClain went 2-for-2 with 4 runs scored.
Carson Olson picked up the win in middle relief improving to 4-and-2 on the year with a 3.32 ERA.
Bellingham (34-19) and Kelowna (26-24) wrap up the regular season today at Joe Martin Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05pm.
The Bells have already clinched a West Coast League playoff spot by winning the North Division during the first-half of the season. The Bells will open the WCL playoffs Friday August 10th on the road and will host game 2 of the best of three series Saturday, August 11th. If necessary, a third game will be played August 12th at Joe Martin Field.
