State Soccer: Bellingham & Sehome on to Quarterfinals

The Bellingham and Sehome boys soccer teams are on to the 2A state quarterfinals after posting dominant victories Wednesday night at Civic Stadium. The Red Raiders defeated Fife 4-0. The Mariners beat R.A. Long 3-1.
Casey Carter scored two goal to help Bellingham remain undefeated on the year. The senior opened up the scoring with short strike to the back of the net just 2 minutes into the match. He notched his second goal in the 48th minute.
"He's been on fire throughout the whole season and we know how dangerous he can be," said Bellingham head coach Matt Zigulas. "It's his work rate. He just knows, he has an instinct for the goal, he knows where to be. He's always in the right place at the right time and a clinical finisher."

Oliver Knickrehm and Matt Harley also tallied goals as Bellingham improved to 18-0-1 on the year. The Red Raiders will play host to Highline Saturday at 5:00pm at Civic Stadium in the quarterfinals.
Sehome's Jon Gunn scored twice within a 1-minute time frame late in the first half to pace the Mariners to their opening round win over R.A. Long. The junior scored in the 37th and 38th minutes. His second goal was laser shot from a near-impossible angel inthe far right corner over the head of the keeper.
"He played well today, he was one of our better players," said Sehome head coach Richard Henderson. "He worked really hard off the ball, did a lot of unselfish running and to get two goals is excellent for him."

Morgan Antico added a goal for Sehome in the 49th minute. Arturo Blanco scored the lone goal for the Lumberjacks in the 71st minute.
Sehome moves on to a quarterfinal match at Franklin Pierce on Friday at 6:30pm.
In 3A state soccer tournament action Squalicum was shutout by Garfield at Interbay Stadium in Seattle. The loss end the year for the Storm with a record of 18-and-3.
