AP Football Poll: Lynden Leads 5 Ranked Local Squads

With one addition and one subtraction from last week, 5 Whatcom County football squads are once again represented in the Associated Press prep football poll. Lynden Christian has joined the 1A ranks, while Ferndale has fallen out of the top-10 in the 3A.
Lynden (2-0) is the highest ranked local team. The Lions, fresh off a 34-to-6 victory over Ferndale last Friday are 3rd in the 2A classification. The only other Northwest Conference squad in the top-10 is Archbishop Murphy (1-1) at #5.
Three Whatcom County teams are ranked in the 1A. Meridian (1-1) is 7th, Mt. Baker (1-1) is 9th and Lynden Christian (2-0) checks in at number 10. All three squads along with Nooksack Valley (2-0) begin a six-week stretch of playing each other on September 21st.
Lummi Nation (2-0) is ranked 5th in the 1B classification. After a game cancelation the Blackhawks have a bye this week.
